Our first Euroleague win! :)

Hey Everyone! :)

A lot of fun stuff has happened since my last post but nothing more excited than getting our first Euroleague win vs. Wisla CP Krakov 70-65! I believe we are now 1-3 in the Euroleague, and as we continue to get better we expect to grab more wins! :)

Our coaches gave us last weekend entirely off, so I spent the weekend in Prague with Ashley. I had never been to Prague before so I was extremely excited! While we were there, we hung out with the USK Prague team (that beat a Czech League team 130-29!! lol yikes) and went sight seeing around the city. It was definitely one of the most beautiful places I’d ever seen! It would be far too much to type out all the fun I had, so of course I will post some pictures from the trip. But it was really nice hanging out with Anna Montanana and DeLisha Milton-Jones. The Vets make sure to remind me of how young I am, I hope to be more mature by the time I return to the States! :)

Our next Czech League game is at home this Saturday and our next Euroleague game is in Madrid on Wednesday. One of my friends, Josh Rosenblat (he’s one of the Practice Guys for the women’s team at Duke), is actually studying abroad in Madrid this semester and I’m definitely looking forward to meeting up with him! I’ve never been to Madrid, so this is another trip I plan to take full advantage of! :)

Well, that’s all I have for now ladies & gents… Make sure you continue to keep up with the games and don’t forget to check out the photos from Prague! Talk to you soon :)

xoxo,

Jas

It’s been a while.. no worries, I’m still happy :)

Hey everyone! :)

I apologize for how long it has taken me to post another entry, but I always try to wait for a sequence of events to occur. Things are still going well here for me. I’m actually becoming so comfortable that I know my way around and my apartment is finally “home.” I cannot believe that I have already been over here for a month, time is flying!!

Anyway, basketball is still going well as far as working on my game and enjoying my team. We are struggling in the Euroleague (currently 0-3), but we just had a game tonight against Taranto where we made TREMENDOUS improvement. It was a great/close game and I think we ended up losing by around 6. We are doing well in the Czech League and continue to use those games to fine-tune things and prepare for Euroleague games. In my previous posts, I gave you all websites where you can check stats and watch games… make sure you keep up with me! :)

As far as off the court, I have still been doing a lot of cooking and have realized that I LOVE doing it! :) I’ve also been watching a bunch of movies and staying up-to-date with the American TV shows. I just recently purchased the first 3 movies of the Twilight Saga on my iPad so that I can watch them before going to see “Breaking Dawn” on November 18th!!! I have been a fan since I read all four books in just 2 weeks in college… don’t judge me! :) We only have a short shooting practice tomorrow morning so I think I’m going to try and get the teamies to go bowling!! So, I will be back soon with some pictures and videos of that experience (I feel as though I’m terrible at bowling.. but somehow I usually do pretty well lol).

As always, I will post some of my latest pictures from our trip to Montpellier, France and just hanging out in Brno. Enjoy and I will be posting again soon! :)

xoxo,
Jas :)

P.S.

I found out they do celebrate Halloween here but I believe it’s on November 4th (not sure why).. but Ashley is going to try and host a party & it will be fun! I never miss a holiday :)

what a wonderful opportunity, i LOVE my job… #blessed

Update from Brno! :)

Hey lovely people! :)

As usual, a lot has been going on since my last post. We had another Czech League game against Slovanka that we won by 8 and we played our first EuroLeague game against Spartak last night. WNBA’s Becky Hammon (San Antonio Silver Stars) and Candice Dupree (Phoenix Mercury) are both on the Spartak team. It was a game that we weren’t expected to win but we played trying to win it anyway. We hung in the game as long as we could but ended up losing by 17. I’m proud of so many things our team was able to do in the game but we have a lot to work on and are continuing to get better. Our next game is a Czech League game this Saturday at home.

Here are links where you can read the recap of the games, play-by-play and box scores:

Aside from basketball, I have been doing some serious exploring around Brno without a map, GPS, or destination in mind just to learn my way around… and it has definitely helped me out! Today I found my way to the BIGGEST mall I’ve ever seen or been to in my life! It was so huge that after the two-and-a-half hours I spent there, I had only walked a quarter of it. UNBELIEVEABLE! In some ways I’m glad I didn’t see the whole thing, it gives me an excuse to keep going back haha! :)

Aside from giving in to my shopping addiction, I have been doing a good amount of cooking and watching TV online. Are any of you Pretty Little Liar fans? It’s a TV series that comes on ABCfamily and I’m extremely creeped out by it yet cannot stop watching! I am way behind, but I’ve almost completed the first season.

Well, I’m about to go throw my clean, wet laundry in Ashley’s dryer at her apartment then come home and watch Pretty Little Liars for the rest of the night! Hope to hear from any of you soon through Skype, Facebook, Twitter, etc. give me some feedback about my blog! And, as always, enjoy the photos posted! :)

 Talk to you soon!

Xoxo,

Jas

night out in the city :)

Hey wonderful people, what’s goin’ on?! :) Glad you came back to check up on me, some fun things have happened since my last entry.

Since I’ve had my car for a couple days I have slowly figured out a few routes around the city. I know how to get to the gym and back, of course, but I also found my way to a Billa grocery story and back to my apartment. I secretly LOVE to grocery shop and the people here are so helpful! I have now stocked up on some good stuff like Powerade, cereal, eggs, pancakes, fruit, and chocolate milk! :) I also got some foods that I can cook myself since I plan on becoming a far better chef while I’m over here. Although, it is very tempting to eat out a lot because there is great food in this city… I went to an Italian restaurant yesterday and had a delicious pasta meal!

If you remembered from my previous entry, I had some exciting news about an American player joining me here in Brno. Well, Ashley Robinson has arrived! :) She is a member of the WNBA’s Seattle Storm and I met her this past season through my great friend Krystal Thomas. I was so happy to hear that she was coming to my team! She has been living with me for a couple of days but will move into her own apartment tomorrow. I have been trying to get her to love Twitter as much as I do, so go follow her (@missarob43) and force her to tweet more! :)

Well, I played in my first game last night. I played a great first half but a not as great second half; we ended up losing by 3 points (the box scores and a write-up are on the website, just copy/paste into Google Translator). We all played really hard but did not rebound well and we did not play good defense. I feel that I will definitely get better individually here while also being very helpful to the team. Ashley will play in her first game with us on Sunday in Prague. I have not figured out how you all can watch the games online but when I do I will be sure to post the game times (in Eastern Standard Time) along with the link.

On the bright side, after the game, I was able to spend some time with the team and some of their friends downtown. I believe they call it “The Centre.” I had a great time and Ashley and I got a chance to get to know everyone. I also found some great shopping places and anyone that knows me can only imagine how happy I was when I ran into an H&M and a Zara!! :) :) :) The Centre is not far from my apartment so I hope that I will have a few days to explore and go shopping!

I have had some trouble falling asleep at night due to me trying to keep up with my friends and family in America. I am definitely very tired and tonight looks like a good night to go to bed early! So, thanks for stopping by and I will be posting again soon… Have a good morning/afternoon and I will have a good night! :)
